What began as a small gathering on Baker Beach in San Francisco, grew into a worldwide Burning Man phenomenon that draws thousands of people to the Playa each year at Black Rock Desert. Burning Man and Black Rock Arts permeate Bay Area culture.
Each year's installations abide by an annual, cohesive theme. The images here provide a glimpse across the tableau that is this festival -- even if the spirit of the gathering and the culture around it is impossible to encapsulate in any two-dimensional way.
